  1. When my niece got married her colors were hunter green and white. The bridesmaid dresses where beautiful in hunter green. The cake, not so much. Yes, instead of doing a few leaves or even a scroll on the cake in hunter green the actual icing was dark green! The cake was made and given to the bride as a wedding gift by a church member. It was the only time in my memory that I passed on the cake. 🙂

  2. At my first wedding, there were very few people invited, just family and a few close friends. However, my ex was Latino, and in their culture it’s not common to use RSVP cards and have seating arrangements, etc, most weddings are open to anyone in the community to come in and enjoy. (I’ve been to more weddings where I’ve never met the bride or groom than I have weddings where I know them!) So, when I got married, along with the less than 50 invited guests, I got a wedding crasher, a friend of one of my in-laws. He tried to make out with me pre-ceremony, then hit on each of the women under 40 in attendance. (By the end of the night, my dad had convinced him that every last one was his daughter, which put an end to that since my dad is big and scary!)

  3. At my cousins wedding they had alot of balloons..For some reason everyone kept giving my 3 year old daughter a balloon as they passed her..by the end of the night she was walking around with almost 30 balloons..in all the wedding pictures my little girl is in every picture running around with balloons in everyones faces..lol..she was such a character and to look back at pics, the day was about her

  4. At the end of my friends’ wedding, we had an impromptu swing dance party after cleanup.

  5. I’ve been to a wedding where it absolutely poured rain, it was an outdoor wedding so it made things interesting

  6. My own wedding was almost a disaster…. My husband was hung over and drunk, my DJ showed up an hour late, the cake went to the wrong venue, and a week before the wedding my dress didn’t fit lol it all worked out

  7. I have only been to one wedding (and it wasn’t mine). It was a very simple service and not eventful.

  8. At my wedding, the fountain used to decorate the drink table was knocked over. I don’t think there were any injuries. 🙂

  9. I was at a summer wedding in a small historic church that had no air conditioning. It was warm enough in there that the candles couldn’t maintain their shape. We were lucky it wasn’t bad enough to catch anything on fire.

  10. No, unfortunately, I’ve never witnessed any wedding snafus, but I kinda wish I had. My own wedding was disgustingly boring.

  11. The brides rental car broke down , so we were late. The flowers were the wrong ones. Brides sister in law was a trouble maker. Then my camera didn’t work. That was just a few things.

  12. A friend married one if a pair of identical twins, and during the wedding reception, the videographer followed the wrong twin around the venue.

As for mine, the officiant kept calling me by my husband’s mother’s name – not once but three times. The poor woman was way more nervous than we were.

  13. I went to a wedding where they had these very pretty fishbowls with goldfish surrounded by votive candles on each table. They looked fantastic until halfway through the reception, the host couple started running around with fishnets. The candles were too close to the bowls and the poor fish boiled! It was so sad but funny. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!!!

  14. The worst wedding disaster I’ve ever witnessed was a screaming baby. No one could hear the ceremony and the mother wouldn’t take the baby out. I know there are worst things I’m sure

  15. I was a guest at a wedding on a Friday night for a very good friend and co-worker. The Bride had everything set or so she thought. The cake never showed up. When she couldn’t get in touch with the baker and it was getting late some of her friends went to the grocery store and purchased a few large sheet cakes. The store even decorated the cakes quickly. Nobody missed the “real” wedding cake. The one everyone ate was delicious. We later found out the cake was delivered the next day to the empty hall.

  16. Parish priest OKed the same wedding date for two couples. In order to give them the date they each wanted he pitched
a double wedding to them! Couldn’t believe it!! His suggestion was immediately and strongly turned down! P.S. We
    were one of the couples!!!

  17. I haven’t been to any particularly interesting weddings yet. You never know though!

  18. nothing too interesting-we went to an outdoor wedding-it had rained the night before so grass was wet and alittle muddy. but the wedding day was sunny

  19. I attended a beautiful wedding of family friend held at a large horse farm. The dinner portion was tables set up along a large lake. After dinner, out of nowhere, the groomsmen picked up the groom and threw him into the lake. Worst part was as they were grabbing him and running, they bumped into me and my glass of champagne dumped all over my cream linen suit.

  20. Thankfully the weddings we’ve attended have been free of crazy surprises, but I still live in hope 😉 Usually any surprises are small things like children in the wedding party stealing the show 😉

  21. I am a pastor. At the first wedding I ministered at, a very fashionable one (for a small mining town), one of the string quartet had a seizure– fortunately just after the vows. It. Was. Awesome.

  22. Nothing bad has happened at any wedding I’ve been to…at my wedding my dad stepped on my veil as he was walking away (after giving me away) and I was trying to step up to the minister. I said “Whoa!” loudly and leaned back. Luckily it didn’t get jerked off my head

  23. We were late to a wedding (flat tire), and wound up standing in the back. The bride had chosen to have communion served to the bridal party, which occurred just after we arrived. The priest forgot to turn off his mike while he was cutting the bread, and we all could hear that crackly sawing noise. No music to cover, so that was the only sound in the church.

  24. I wouldn’t say unexpected but the mother of the bride was insane and running around the whole time like she was on crack and changing every single thing the bride did !

  25. Weddings I have been to, even the small glitches seemed to fit right in, and add to the memories!!

  26. At my cousins wedding, the maid of honor fainted then one of the groom’s men. The wedding was delayed for about half an hour.

  27. I can’t say I’ve ever been to a wedding with any major disasters. Thank goodness. 🙂

  28. Does my own count? Pre-wedding and getting dressed I open and BEGIN to put on my new pantyhose. They wouldn’t make it to my knees! Right size package, wrongly made. Plus size panty with hose not even 2 feet long! No 2nd pair so had to buy some on the way there. Groom’s Mom in hospital. I got my gown and new hose on, was downstairs in reception area of the church and looking at my cake as it sat in the service opening to kitchen. Someone making punch opens a can of Hawaiian Punch that must have froze because it exploded…catching the back of the cake and my white wedding gown in its PURPLE spray. (I should have taken the hint and RUN!) Started late because we did our best to get the most visible splotches out of the gown and dried with hair dryer. At this point my nerves are shot, little sleep, no food, and I start to pass out during the ceremony. All I did was told my matron of honor, who was 8 months pregnant, to just let me fall. Luckily my Dad noticed and was there behind me with a chair. Great wedding pics with me sitting through the ceremony. Even all of these years later and I still can’t believe that I didn’t listen to the universe telling me to run. Stupid!

    1. I forgot to check the box to follow new posts. Probably PTSD from wedding memories!

  29. Haven’t been to very many weddings, so I am happy to report that the only wedding disaster was mine and that’s because it shouldn’t have happened. Sounds like a fun book and I am looking forward to reading it. Thanks for sharing!

  30. The closest I’ve ever been to a wedding disaster is when my brother got married 43 years ago! The morning of the wedding my brother couldn’t remember where he put the Rings so they wouldn’t be lost. Luckily just before leaving for the church he remembers. Once they were at the point of the ring exchance – both their hands were swollen and the rings did not go on smothly!

  31. ok cousin’s wedding — grooms cake fiasco — aunt made cake and froze it – one kinda caved in — she tried to fill in with frosting — chocolate — and did grapes — with malted milk balls
    after wedding reception
gets HOT — we’re cleaning — my aunts are cackling and crying with laughter from kitchen
the cake pooped on the floor it looked like — icing slid off and the ….. sorry I can’t stop laughing at the memory

  32. No, I have never witness unexpected moments at any wedding that I attended.
